Join Western North Carolina and its Ashevillians for a beautiful 3 day weekend of Contact Improvisation! This is a beginner friendly event, and a great way to get started, delve deeper, or otherwise enjoy doing Contact Improv!

How can we bring the intentions from our dance into everything we do?
How can I do this with less effort? How can I make this more enjoyable and easeful?
Truly, we improvise every moment anyways. We never do things exactly the same way twice. Each moment of our lives is unique and new. How can I make this moment, this dance more wonderful or interesting or healing or fun or edgy or ???

 

Price (Sliding Scale):

Pay upon arrival. No prepayment necessary.

 

Full Jam Pricing:
  • $75 Student rate (full-time student or unemployed)
  • $90 Regular rate (employed)
  • $120 Professional rate
  • $150 Supporting the Arts!

 

Single Session Pricing:
  • Jam and Eats:    $10-20

  • 2:30-5:30pm – Finding the Joy – Class with Michael Hurd
Dance

 

Saturday, August 2nd
 
Brunch at 7 Lockley Ave
  • Morning – Brunch and enjoying each other’s company! – 7 Lockley Ave, 28804

Open Jam at the JCC

  • 12pm-5pm – dance, relax, games, snack, Infusion Tea Lounge
  • 5pm-7pm – dinner break (dinner out on the town; i.e. not provided)
  • 7pm-10pm – evening jam with *live music*

 

Sunday, August 3rd
Underscore at Homewood
  • 10am-1pm – Homewood (AKA. Zilicoa Castle)

Forsythia Hall: PLEASE CARPOOL
DO NOT PARK IN THE CHURCH PARKING LOT ACROSS THE STREET!!!
Meet at 7 Lockley Thurs. night 6:30pm and Fri. morning 9:15am to leave cars and arrange car pool groups.
Directions:
Please carpool if at all possible!!!
From I-240 / Downtown – take Merrimon Ave away from downtown (North); turn left onto Hillside St. (after Enmark gas station); go straight through stop sign, take next left (Forsythe St.); Forsythia Hall is the older brown “church” on right across the street from an move obvious white church.  From I-26 – take Broadway Ave. exit towards town; turn left onto Hillside St. (across from Citgo); take second right turn (Forsythe St.); Forsythia Hall is the older brown “church” on right. Some street parking and limited access to church parking across the street.
Please do not park in near-by residential neighborhoods.

JCC (Jewish Community Center):
Directions:
From I-240, take Charlotte St exit. Go north/away from downtown), JCC is off Charlotte Street between Hillside and Lenox.  There is no Hillside St access. It is an exit only.
Entrance is from Lenox St (1 block north of Hillside on Charlotte) then left on Lenox Ct, pass the pool area to parking.
Security desk will “buzz” the door open when you arrive. Take stairs or elevator to 2nd floor gym.

 

NYS3 (Friday evening ecstatic dance):
Park in back of the complex (Riverside Business Park).

 

Homewood
Directions:

Go .9mi along Montford Ave, away from Downtown; turn Right onto Zillicoa Street; Homewood is the Castle on the Left. Parking on Zillicoa Street, or Behind Homewood.

From 240 WEST: Take the Montford Ave Exit (4C); at Light, Turn Right. Follow above local Directions
